Born and raised in Detroit, Founder & President Jhawan began his professional career in the manufacturing industry, where he became a champion for continuous improvement. After having lived in several states around the country, it became clear to Jhawan that manufacturing wasn’t the only industry in need of improvement. The quality of education for disadvantaged students was disheartening, leaving gaps that can be, and have been, felt for generations. Out of this realization, The Detroit Educational Takeover was born and won’t rest until it achieves its mission.
