DET collabs with The University of Michigan to Showcase the Possibilities of Engineering to Detroit High School Students

The Detroit Educational Takeover Team, led by founder Jhawan Davis, collaborated with the University of Michigan Industrial and Operations Engineering (U-M IOE) Department to host the impactful Optimaize Day for Detroit high school students. With the aim of sparking interest in engineering, the event provided hands-on experiences and engaging discussions, leaving a lasting impression on the high school participants, along with university students and volunteers. Jhawan and University of Michigan Professor Albert Berahas, who played an enormous role in the planning and execution of this event, have developed a impactful relationship built on the shared belief in the importance of such initiatives in bridging educational gaps and fostering STEM exploration.
